Coastal Science and Interpretation for Wilderness Guides

This hands-on, field-based workshop will provide current scientific information in a naturalist and interpretation framework.

It is aimed at kayak and wilderness guides, summer camp counselors, remote tour operators, tourism and recreation professionals, but open to anyone. Participants can expect to learn about common marine species, rainforest ecology, intertidal interpretation, and more! A certificate will be given at the successful completion of the workshop.

We are endorsed by the SKGABC and PIKA.

Cost: $529 + GST

Costs include: all programming and boat trips, three nights accommodation at double occupancy, linens (sheets, blankets, pillows, towels) all meals, from dinner on the first day to a bag lunch on the last day, and transportation to and from Port Alberni via a shuttle bus.

  • Minimum enrollment 12 participants.
  • Deposit of 50% of final cost is required by April 26, 2019 to secure your place. Deposits are refundable up to May 4th, less a $100 admin fee.

Bamfield is located in a remote setting, far from hospitals – please indicate if you have any medical conditions we should know about. Please bring you medical card with you.

If the workshop is cancelled, you will be contacted by May 1, 2019 and a complete refund will be issued.

*Notes about room and board: The workshop begins on the afternoon on May 10. Room and board will be covered for May 10 (dinner) through to the final morning of your workshop (breakfast and bag lunch).
