BMSC 2020 Summer courses update re: COVID-19
Based on recent information from the Canadian government and following a recent British Columbia public health order related to COVID-19, we have decided to cancel Summer Block 1 courses at BMSC (Invertebrate Zoology, Subtidal Science, and Marine Plankton Ecology). We will decide whether to cancel the remainder of our summer courses (June 15 onwards) on upcoming rolling deadlines.
This decision is not one that we make lightly, and is set against a backdrop of a record number of applicants for our summer courses this year, which are a highlight of the year for our students and faculty alike. We are hopeful that we will still be able to offer BMSC courses scheduled to start after June 15 should the situation with COVID-19 resolve in time to responsibly do so.
BMSC Summer courses provide a dynamic, hands-on learning environment. Students will engage in field-based and laboratory activities, class discussions and seminars.
- 3 week courses carries credit equivalent to a 1-semester university course
- 6 week courses carries credit equivalent to a 2-semester university course.
Students may take as many courses as they like, but only one course at a time. Courses are an intense immersion experience, running from Monday to Saturday, 10 hours on average per day.
Application deadline March 1, 2020
