Dr. Eric Clelland
As BMSC’s Research Coordinator, Dr. Eric Clelland’s responsibilities not only include coordinating our visiting researchers, he also maintains research equipment, assists with collection of research organisms such as hagfish and dogfish, is a certified assistant SCUBA instructor and dive master, and puts out fires, literally; Eric is is the Safety Officer for the Bamfield Volunteer Fire Department. Eric has a diploma in electronics engineering technology, a BSc, MSc (snail physiology) and PhD from York University. His dissertation research examined peptide contributions to Zebrafish oocyte developmental pathways. Two Post Doctoral Fellowships (York U and U Windsor) focused on physiological processes in puffer fishes and gobies. Eric’s unique qualifications, energy and attention to detail make him a valued resource for research scientists at BMSC.
